ABOUT ABOUT

Members of the West Virginia University men’s basketball team that reached the Final Four stage of the 2010 NCAA Tournament are reuniting for charity in a special hosted by voice of the Mountaineers Tony Caridi on West Virginia’s birthday.

“Ten Years Later: A Live Hangout For Charity” will allow West Virginia fans to hear stories from the players, the coaches, and even ask them questions on Saturday, June 20, 2020. Tickets are $10 each and will be available on www.jflowent.com beginning Friday, June 5.

“It’s crazy to think that it's been 10 years since we were in Indianapolis playing in The Final Four,” said event organizer and former player Wellington Smith. “The players, coaches, and fan base have all moved on, but we all remember that memorable time when the Mountaineers were in the Final Four. A few weeks ago, Coach Martin reached out to a group of us about making sure we capitalize off of this 10 year anniversary. Since all of us are so busy we thought it would be best to set up this Zoom call. I think this will be cool to send and share with our families and the great people of West Virginia.”

All proceeds will benefit a cancer research charity established in the memory of Danny Mazzulla, the father of fellow Final Four team member and WVU alum Joe Mazzulla.

“This charity is an awesome opportunity to give money going towards cancer research, to hopefully one day find a cure,” Smith said.

Players currently confirmed to appear are John Flowers, Kevin Jones, Da’Sean Butler, Truck Bryant and Smith and many more. Coach Bob Huggins will also join the show, alongside assistant coach Erik Martin, and former coach Billy Hahn.

“If you were intrigued by "The Last Dance," then you'll love this two hour special,” Smith said.

This meeting will be conducted via Zoom. Guests will be instructed to download the app for their phone or computer. Users will be permitted 1 sign-in per ticket, meaning one active call will be admitted to the Zoom call. All users will be on mute until the Q&A session at the end of the show. If members become disruptive, they will be removed from the call and not readmitted. Users will be required to sign in with their provided e-mail address on the ticket purchase.

The virtual reunion coincides with the launch of the “10 Years Later: The Oral History of The Final Four Team” podcast in the coming weeks. The multi-episode special features interviews with all the players following the journey from season to the Final Four. Information about its release will be online soon. Fans are encouraged to follow the social media accounts of The Final Fourcast podcast, @finalfourcast, for more information in the coming days.
