ABOUT ABOUT

After two sold-out games in Morgantown, the West Virginia Men’s Basketball Alumni Game is hitting the road and headed to Fairmont State University’s Joe Retton Arena Saturday, July 29 at 7 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now at jflowent.com and are $15 online, or $20 at the door. VIP seating is coming soon.

“It’s great to take this game on the road,” said John Flowers, event organizer and former WVU basketball player (2007-2011). “We want fans all across the state to come together and enjoy this game.”

Each year, a portion of the proceeds from the game benefit charity, with more than $14,000 in donations in just two years. In its first year, the game raised $6,000 for the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Relief fund, and last year raised $8,000 for Conquer Chiari.

Suggestions for this year’s selection came from social media, and this year’s game will benefit the WVU Medicine Children’s Cure Kids Cancer Fund. The fund provides medical care and psychological and social support for patients and their families.

“We pick a new group, organization or charity each year that we feel can do some good,” Flowers said. “We asked our fans on social media who we should support, and we heard about this program. “We hope we can raise awareness about the good WVU Medicine Children's does, and we hope we can give these kids and their families a little bit of relief.”

Players currently confirmed to appear include Juwan Staten, Joe Mazzulla, Mike Gansey, Da’Sean Butler, Devin Ebanks, Truck Bryant and Brent Solheim. More players will be announced on jflowent.com over the coming weeks and through the game’s official social media accounts, http://twitter.com/wvualumnigame and http://facebook.com/wvalumnigame.

The event is a terrific summer’s evening entertaining that’s perfect for the whole family with giveaways, auctions and more. After the game, players will be available for autographs and photos with players.

Tickets are available for the event through www.jflowent.com. Tickets are $15, or $20 at the door on the night of the game.

For fans who want to get closer to the players, Flowers will also be hosting a special evening with players the night before at Kegler’s Sports Bar and Lounge. Tickets are $10 and are available at jflowent.com

Sponsorship and advertising opportunities for the game are also available. Those interested should also contact [email protected] for more information.
